About the Program

As an eye-care professional, licensed opticians design, produce and fit eyeglasses, contact lenses and specialized products. Opticians find employment in optometry clinics, optical stores, ophthalmology offices, and optic labs. This is an ideal career choice for entrepreneurs.

Stenberg's Optician Diploma program is accredited by NACOR and prepares graduates to write the national licensing exam.

  • Delivery Method: Online (with 10 weeks of in-person labs)
  • Duration: 55 weeks, including 10 weeks of in-person labs, a 6-week full-time practicum and a 4-week full-time preceptorship

Articulation (Pathway)

Graduates are eligible for British Columbia Institute of Technology's (BCIT) Advanced Diploma in Business Management. Upon completion of the diploma, graduates can continue to BCIT’s Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA).

For international students, graduates of BCIT's Advanced Diploma in Business Management and BCIT’s BBA may be eligible for a Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP).
